Skilled Worker Route Requirements & Scope

This calculator checks continuous residence requirements only. These other requirements for settlement on the Skilled Worker route are not checked here:

  • Your sponsor must still be approved and confirm they still need you (SW 24.1)
  • Salary at settlement — the general threshold is £41,700 a year and the going rate for the occupation, with lower thresholds for some roles (SW 24.3)
  • English language — B1 speaking and listening now, rising to B2 for applications made on or after 26 March 2027 (SW 22A.1)
  • Knowledge of Life in the UK (Appendix KOL UK) (SW 23.1)
  • Suitability — you must not fall for refusal under Part Suitability, and must not be in breach of immigration laws or on immigration bail (SW 20.1–20.2)
Qualifying Period: 5 years. Absence Limit: CR 3.1 — no more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12-month period.
