This calculator checks continuous residence requirements only. These other requirements for settlement as a Health and Care Worker are not checked here:

  • Your sponsor must still be approved and confirm they still need you (SW 24.1)
  • Salary at settlement — health and education roles have their own threshold, currently £25,000 a year plus the going rate (SW 24.3, Row D)
  • English language — B1 speaking and listening now, rising to B2 for applications made on or after 26 March 2027 (SW 22A.1)
  • Knowledge of Life in the UK (Appendix KOL UK) (SW 23.1)
  • Suitability — you must not fall for refusal under Part Suitability, and must not be in breach of immigration laws or on immigration bail (SW 20.1–20.2)

Qualifying period: 5 years. Absence limit: CR 3.1 — no more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12-month period.
