Terms of Use

What you can expect from this site, and what it expects from you.

Not legal advice: VisaXplain is not a law firm and does not provide legal or immigration advice. This content is for general information purposes only and may not reflect the most recent immigration rules. Always verify with official UK government sources or a regulated immigration adviser.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the calculators.

What this site does

VisaXplain applies published UK Immigration Rules to dates and answers that you enter, and shows you the result together with the rule it came from. That is all it does.

What this site is not

VisaXplain is not a law firm and is not authorised to give immigration advice. Under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, advice about a particular person's immigration situation may only be given by someone regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority or by a designated qualifying regulator such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

So nothing on this site — including any report you generate — tells you what to do, whether to apply, when you should apply, or how likely an application is to succeed. Where the Rules leave a decision to Home Office discretion, we say so and stop there.

If you need advice on your own case, use the Immigration Advice Authority's register to find someone who is allowed to give it.

Accuracy, and its limits

We take care to reflect the Rules as published, we cite the source for every result, and we monitor the pages we rely on for changes. Even so:

  • The Rules change, sometimes at short notice, and a result may be based on a version that has since been superseded.
  • A result is only ever as accurate as the dates you enter. One mistyped date changes the answer.
  • Many outcomes depend on evidence and on Home Office discretion, neither of which a calculator can assess.

Always check a result against the official guidance on GOV.UK before you rely on it, and take regulated advice before making an application.

Your responsibilities

You agree to enter information that is accurate and your own, not to use the site to break the law, and not to attempt to disrupt it or extract data from it in bulk.

You are responsible for anything done with a report you generate, including if you share it.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure. You may delete your account at any time from your profile, which deletes your saved reports, trips and visa history with it.

We may suspend an account that is being used to abuse the service.

Liability

We provide this site free of charge for the parts that are free, and on the terms above for anything paid. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a calculation, from a change in the Rules, or from an application decision.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date below shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
